DMC Rail
DMC Rail was formed to cater for all renovation works to walls and floors in ticket halls and retail areas, stairs and platforms and associated works on the London Underground and Network Rail.
Since its inception DMC Rail Limited has carried out some of the most high profile tiling contracts on the London Underground and Network Rail networks, the turnover of the company has increased year on year and we are now the largest tiling contractor on the London Underground.
The type of service DMC Rail carrys out includes the following:
- Design and Build contracts (PI Insurance Cover).
- Removal and replacement of Heritage tiles to stations.
- In-house screeding and rendering team.
- Removal and replacement of ceramic tiles.
- Repairs and replacement of faience blocks to interior and exterior facades.
- Replacement and repairs to terrazzo including the matching and manufacture of new.
- Recommended installers of Aati specialist stair nosings.
- Dedicated in house design team supporting clients and architects at design stage to improve buildability and durability.
- Design and manufacture of precast concrete/terrazzo stair treads for the installation over weekend closures.
- Refurbishment of existing terrazzo floors by diamond grinding and polishing to meet current slip resistance requirements.
- Resin patchwork repairs to existing tiling
- Site surveys and reports including AutoCAD dimensioned elevation and photographic drawings.
- Supply and fix of nosings/copings to platforms.
- Supply and install of tactiles to stair and platform locations.
- Manufacture and installation of 'warm touch' handrails
- Manufacture and installation of bespoke metalwork.
- Builders work including coring and drilling.
- Approved installer of Ardex products working closely with their design team for specifying adhesives & grouts
- Recommended installers of Howe Green access covers.
DMC Rail plays a major part in renovation of listed Underground stations - all in keeping with English Heritage guidelines when required. We are also proud to report that two of the stations have won National Rail Heritage Awards from Transport for London for two years running for most considerate modernisation of an English Heritage listed building, these are Southgate (2008) and Maida Vale (2009).
DMC Rail invest a lot of time and effort to ensure that Heritage Stations are sympathetically restored to their former glory which was why we jointly sponsored Douglas Rose's book "Tiles of the Unexpected Underground" jointly with London Underground as a reference guide for designers and architects
